My people, so sorry for the loooooongggg break in Transfusion……ermmmm Transmission I mean. So much has happened in the past month and I am still trying to adjust to it 😊😊

So, let’s get to it…. shall we? Our last Natural Hair Tag for now is Sophiyat Sadiq an Undergraduate.

She kept it KISS ( Simple and Short) with her straight to the point answers. Read and enjoy…

Tell us about yourself in Forty (40) words or less:

I’m Sophiyat Sadiq. A computer science student of Lagos student University, I am dark, ummm on natural hair obviously and I like food  lol I’m not sure how this part is supposed to go but that’s all I can say.

Have you always been natural?

I’ve not always been on natural hair

Why did you decide to go natural?

I decided to join team natural because girls with natural hair always have so much beauty and confidence.

When did you make the decision?

I decided to go natural in 2016

Did you Big Chop straightaway or transition?

I started transitioning in 2016 but in 2017 I got frustrated and just chopped it

What did your family and friends think about your decision?

Well for one my mum supported it but at a point she asked me to go and relax it and as for friends, well some called me stupid lol cause my “relaxed” hair was quite long.

What has been your greatest challenge so far while managing your hair? How have you managed it/them?

My greatest challenge managing the hair is definitely managing the hair . It’s so hard to manage because as a student there’s a lot of work load and pressure coming from school and then I’m always too tired to carry out my hair routine. But I’ve tried to balance things out. If I know it’s going to be a long day I carry out my hair routine in the morning if not I just do it in the evening.

What do you love most about your hair?

My hair is actually so patient with me and it’s amazing  all I have to do is treat it nicely and boom it’s amazing.

Have you had a ‘bad hair’ day? Tell us about it.

Plenty bad hair days  . When I’m too tired to do anything to my hair I just cover it and take it out. Did that for close to 2 weeks one day and I decided to take my hair out like that you know just comb through it. Boy don’t even remind me

What are those  products/accessories you can’t do without?

I can’t do without my Cantu shea butter leave-in-conditioner, jaimacan black castor oil, coconut oil, olive oil, my hair wonder cream and shea butter.

What’s your go to style?

Pack it in a loose bun and lay my edges

Do you style your hair yourself every time or you go to salons?

I Style it myself

What’s your current regimen?

Basically I apply honey, castor oil and coconut oil to my hair daily. Then every 2 week I make my own hair mask and apply.

Has going natural influenced other aspects of your life? If yes, how?

Lately I’ve been working with some very amazing women and I found out 90% of them are on their natural hair, makes me feel like a belong to this exclusive league of successful black women. Like I fit in.

What would you like to tell someone considering going natural?

Well my advice is always treat your hair like gold  . Try not to skip hair routines. Love your hair unconditionally.

Do you have any other thing to add?

Well I hope this inspires someone

Hello there, Welcome to my blog. My name is Afolake, a Content Strategist by day and a blogger by night. I live for DIYs, so i can be termed a minimalist (although my friends call me cheap). My love for writing about everything including my natural (unrelaxed) hair journey brought me here. Starting the blog was an impulsive idea and one that i have not regretted so far. One thing i think you should know is that i love food, so don't be surprised to see a lot of posts on food. My favourite saying is "This too shall pass" and this has helped me all through my journey in life. On this blog, i talk about everything - books, love, life, beauty and every other thing running through my mind so there may be weird posts on here sometimes. I aim for this space to be a close knit community, so don't be shy to drop your comments, share the posts and invite your friends to be part of us. Live, Love, Pray and of course Eat healthy!
