Anyone who knows me well knows how much I love my avocados for my stomach, face and hair, but for my stomach most importantly 😂😂
Before now, anytime I finished scooping out the flesh, I threw away the seeds till I came across an article that changed my view making me realize that avocado seeds are not useless after all.
Do you know that the large seed in an avocado is edible and offers many health benefits? In fact, the seeds contain much higher antioxidant, fibre and phenolic content than the flesh… how interesting?
Suffering from high blood pressure?
In this country especially, I feel like almost everybody has the tendency of developing a high blood pressure. Everything is so difficult – electricity, transportation, education and even data providers will cheat you and stress you out! How are we not expected to think in these conditions?
So whether you already have a high blood pressure or you are seeking ways to avoid it, make avocado seeds your friend.
According to research, avocado seed contains a high amount of potassium which does a great job in maintaining normal blood pressure while lowering the blood pressure in people who suffer from hypertension. (I said it, anybody can use it).
Potassium also helps to regulate the fluid balance inside the blood so it keeps your blood pressure normal. You can blend the seed and include it in your teas, smoothies and cereals.
Glow baby glow!
A glowing skin is not that difficult to achieve theses days, well maybe it is. Are you looking for the cheapest way to achieve that glowing skin? You are in the right place.
Avocado seeds contain antioxidant that help to keep the skin young due to its ability to prevent the free radical damage which is the main factor of aging on skin.
The powerful antioxidants in avocado fights off free radicals and reduces skin aging, wrinkles, age spots, sun damage, fine lines and sagging skin.Avocado seed powder also works as a natural ‘exfoliant’ for your skin as it removes dead skin cells, excess sebum and other impurities from the skin.
To get that incredible glow:
Mix 1 tbs of avocado seed powder with 1 tsp of olive oil and honey.
Use this mixture to gently massage your body using circular motions.
Wait 15 minutes before taking a bath.
Use this scrub once or twice a week.
For the ‘Naturalistas’
Actually, relaxed people can also do this but I am bias because I am non-relaxed..lol.
Avocado seeds helps fight dry hair, dandruff and split ends while giving a shine to your crowning glory. There are various ways you can use the seeds for your hair – as an oil treatment or shampoo.
For the former:
Mix the seed powder with castor oil and let soak for a day.
Rub all over your scalp.
Cover your head with a towel or film and let sit for an hour and wash your hair well.
Please note, this is not recommended for very oily hair.
For the latter:
Add the seed powder to water and bring it to a boil.
Let it simmer for 20 to 30 minutes.
Allow it to cool, then strain it.
Mix this infusion with ¼ cup of your herbal shampoo and store it in a bottle.
Use it to wash your hair as needed.
With these recipes your hair is left soft, thick and free of toxic ingredients. It also helps reduce grey strands.
Say No To Constipation
If you are a foodie like me, there is a chance that you may have had constipation at one time or the other. So, asides Andrew Liver Salt, there’s an easier and more natural remedy to cure constipation.
It is believed that the fiber content in avocado seeds eases the defecation process and helps faeces formation within the colon(this is gross, so sorry).
Next time you bite more than you can chew, you know what to do…winks!
Summer body here we Come!
This is for those of us looking to achieve that ‘banging summer body.’
Avocado’s antioxidant-rich seeds help burn fat to aid weight loss.
The soluble fiber content of the seed lowers your appetite and leaves you feeling full for several hours , preventing you from craving more food.
Asides inhibiting the absorption of fat within the body,Avocado seeds contain calcium, magnesium and potassium that support overall health, fitness recovery and weight loss.
For weight loss, make a smoothie with ½ of an avocado seed (ground), 1 green apple, the juice of 1 lemon, ½ of a banana, ½ cup of spinach and 1 tablespoon of ginger.
Whhheeeeew…. that was along post. But I hope I was able to convince you and not confuse you that Avocado seeds are actually useful!
